Need Last Minute Movers? Two Tips To Help You Get A Good Deal

Ideally, when you need movers, it's best to plan in advance.  You may be able to score the perfect deal this way since the moving company wants to secure your order so they can count on the profits.  However, because emergencies and other incidents occur, you may find yourself in a situation where you need the assistance of a moving company at the last minute.  When this happens, your moving expenses can be quite hefty because of the lateness of your request.  However, getting moving assistance without much notice doesn't have to be difficult if you know what to do.  Use this information to learn two tips that can help you get a good rate when you're moving on the fly.

Pack Up Your Own Belongings

One technique you can use to get a good price for a last minute move is to have everything pre-packed.  Some last minute movers charge by the hour, so the more things you have ready to be lifted onto the moving truck, the quicker the movers can do their job.

Although movers will typically pack up your belongings for you, this is quite time consuming.  There is also the threat of liability, since if something is damaged, a customer may accuse the moving company of packing it incorrectly.  When you pack up your own belongings, this removes some of the responsibility from the moving company.  Keep in mind that it's still a good idea to go with a company that is licensed and insured just in case one of your valuables is damaged while in transport.

When you contact the moving company, let them know that you already have everything packed up and just need the workers to come and transport your goods.  If you need packaging materials, agree to go out to the moving facility and get boxes and tape before the movers come out.  This could go a long way toward helping you save money.

Move Midweek

If at all possible, try to move in the middle of the week.  The moving company may have fewer people in need of their services, and therefore may be willing to offer you a cut rate, even though you're moving with little notice.  Try to avoid moving on a Saturday, since this is usually a high demand day where moving companies are able to raise prices because so many people need their assistance.

Moving at the last minute doesn't have to break the bank if you know what to do.  The next time you need to move quickly, keep these tips in mind so you can save big. Contact a local company, like Modern Movers, Inc., to get started.
